OFF OR ON...?

Unread post by jammy395 »

Theres an intresting debate over at Shill Central - Do you leave yer hifi powered up or switch off after use ?

I switch the power amp on manually or send a command to turn it on as I leave work for home. (MarinT)

I also send a command to turn on my hifi when i leave the rig (Tomorrow) I phone Shona.

Instead of turning off the amps just remove one of the speaker leads from each side, doesn't matter which. The amp will sit quite happily looking at an open circuit and will stay on song.

Ah........Scottish Caviar

PS...I leave my system powered up the 2 weeks im home & shut it down the 2 weeks im offshore - this is to stop Shona playing with it & possibly damaging my Goldring 1042 stylus - She says she does'nt touch it but i have noticed my "Andy Cameron - Heather in the Glen's" LP has been side B up & I never play side B.

 :naughty:

Dac - on
Phonostage - on
Amp - off (it consumes around 100w at idle and gets quite warm)
Sources: Macbook/Sony CDP-X303ES/TEAC UD-H01 dac & Sony PS-6570/Benz Micro ACE SL
Making it louder: Sonneteer Sedley/Sonneteer Campion

Mine stays on, frig-knows why really as I only get the odd opportunity to use it! Still, at least it's always ready just in case.
