I just bought this off the same seller, to add to my Urei amp collection: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141205237691? ... 1497.l2649

The aim is to use this baby Urei as a bass amp on my Bozaks. And to take to bake-offs to piss off people with far more expensive mainstream amps.

The 811B's cost 733,000 yen in 1984, which makes them expensive speakers when they were new, even allowing for Japanese import duty. Yamaha NS-1000's were about 150,000 yen at that time.

They're about 99dbs efficient. 53kgs each.

Shane, while they're bounce along fine, the pair i heard at the end of Rogers Cadet amps sounded ragged and awfully dry to my ears, don't know if they were 100% and representative of the Heresy sound i don't know, by all means seek some out and have a listen and form your own opinion, you don't have my ears after all, not for me i'm afraid.
Frank...made me do it.

Lindsay, missed your post before i answered Shane's Heresy Q, good snag that amp BTW, i'd have bought if i saw it before you,i currently use 809's which i bought for £400.00, when the seller took them down from the Soffitt fitting,
the surrounds disintegrated, so he covered the cost of getting them refoamed from a JBL pro shop with original parts for me before he sent them, when i finally got them, one of the cabs took a hit in transit and the huge magnet moved and grabbed the bass units voice coil,i had to take the offending driver out and send the driver down again, anyway,
finally got them working 6 months after winning them, have had 2yrs trouble free service and sounding braw powered by MC2 Audio MC750 amp, judging by your post, yours is in another league from my humble set up. 8-)

P.S. Thanks for the info about pricing of the speakers back then, are you interested in these 811b's?,
the seller hasn't got back to me so i take it he's sticking to his no courier stance,
feel free to buy if you want to although i do want them. :(

I won't be buying the 811b's. I've just got too many speakers at the moment.

I'd love to hear them though.
