Re: PMC
"Scam" is a bit harsh on PMC. The vast majority of companies selling speakers in 2021 are not particularly better in terms of sonic performance for the retail price.
PMC are one wave in a sea of much of a muchness.

Re: PMC
Slim cabinet, fake bass, attractive veneer, domestic friendly looks, cheap drivers, try to sort out mechanical problems with a complex crossover stuffed full of cheap components.
Could be talking about any number of brands. PMC do seem to have a bigger marketing budget than most, though.

Re: PMC
Scam means they had knowledge in the deception. .
The passage details several areas of concern if you accept they sound like shit , it was either a scam or they were profoundly stupid and ignorant .
.
They could of course think they sound good

Re: PMC
Have not heard PCM floor standers but I have deduced they are shite. This is based on the blog of a self appointed on line "expert" who uses them and put down the Chord Mscaler. As his PCMs look very similar to the Spendors I first heard it through I am not surprised he was not impressed. Stu's post indicates some people are starting to see through the marketing surrounding music strangling WAF speakers.

Re: PMC
There is nothing wrong with cheap as in low priced drivers. The doc didn't mind telling people how much the cube drivers were.
I don't look for price ,I look at factual specs.

Re: PMC
Fair principle. I look at whether a manufacturer is using a cheap part to give good sound quality at an affordable price, or merely increasing their margins.Daniel Quinn wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 12:29 pm There is nothing wrong with cheap as in low priced drivers. The drivers Richard used are definitely not expensive to buy, but if you were a manufacturer with premises, machinery and a fair sized workforce, then hand (or machine) doping of every driver unit would put the costs up significantly.
PMCs cheapest speakers appear to be £2195.

Re: PMC
I would agree with this after listening to my pair of CM1's.. The veneer is lovely though. My pair of P4's (90's TL floorstanders)are definitely not sleep inducing though. They have their own problems but lack of liveliness is not one of them.
