I'm no expert on the ER, but from what I have read and seen online it does the same thing as your product. It does have a switch built in, four ports I think on one side. As the data moves through the ER, some wizardry appears to remove all data jitter resulting in better quality audio. Apparently. They call it a 'digital moat'; presumably this moat is full of clockadiles which munch on errant data packets.

I was thinking about getting a couple to put before my End Points, but I've read some contrary views about how ethernet jitter is managed by buffers and isn't an issue in reality so the jury is still out.
