Re: Your last listen
Sahb Stories. Alex Harvey a legend and way ahead of his time. Not sure the world was quite ready for Alex. Sahb made some fantastic music and were fantastic musicians with the added advantage of one crazy Scottish front man.

Cool choices.Fretless wrote: ↑Sun Mar 25, 2018 10:12 pm Reliving those angry, frustrated times of long-ago with the spiky post-punk sounds of 'Playing With A Different Sex' by the Au Pairs - an album that still sounds fresh and fierce. Up there along with Gang of Four 'Entertainment!' and The Comsat Angels 'Waiting For A Miracle' as one of the best albums made in '79 - '80.
Au Pairs - It's Obvious
The recent CD remaster reveals just what an excellent recording this is with some wonderfully rich bass-guitar and crisp drumming. coupled with scratchy guitar, dub effects and world-weary vocals from Lesley Woods. Brilliant!
I'll throw in 'The Cravats' and 'The Pop Group', too

Re: Your last listen
I would also add The Feelies from across the pond to this group of outstanding bands.

Re: Your last listen
Yes. The original vinyl was on a small indie label and the pressing wasn't all that good.

Re: Your last listen
@ Hemmo1969, your last listen mentions the kronos Quartet. I know there was something in my collection that had them, probably on a compilation tape or cd but after searching through, damned if it turned up. Oh well, youtube it is. Quality music and I'd not heard Laurie Anderson before.
NVA amps, speakers, interconnects & speaker cables produce the music.

Laurie Anderson was married to Lou Reed, until he sadly passed in 2013. This particular price of work (album) is her workings of how she was effected by Hurracaine Sandy and the floods which followed.
