I think British Jazz Rock has its own signature. Bands like Nucleus, Neil Ardley and If amongst others.
Soft Machine have different incarnations. My preference is for the John Etheridge/ Karl Jenkins era, a good example is "Softs"
"Bundles" is another fine album featuring Allan Holdsworth on guitar.

Re: Last Live Listen
The two late 70s Neil Ardley LPs are outstanding. Other acts worthy of a mention Centipede, Colosseum, Bruford, Isotope, Brand X, Back Door.

Dead jealous, how was he gig?, did they sing Emmylou?, for me the best harmonising since Simon + Garfunkel.

Yes they did sing 'Emmylou'.... and had the audience singing back too.
Not sure about the capacity of the Albert Hall but upstairs was over packed IMO.

Re: Last Live Listen
, class act, that looks like a nice hall, characterful, intimate and atmospheric,
much like the Fruit Market here, you could almost hear the ghost from the past in the rafters.

Nick Harper - Hebden Trades Club.
Great music and great fun.
Seen him several times. This was I think the best gig I've seen him at. He's touring and doing fan requests, so that was a lot of hist stuff that I've not heard him do live before.Great music and great fun.

Saw the Stranglers last night for the first time. They are still very popular and it was good to hear all the old hits. They closed with No more heroes.
