Re: Clock Change
Don't see the reason for it any more. Clinging to Victorian norms. It was suggested a few years ago that the UK should adopt further time shifts which would result in total darkness for Scotland Nov Dec Jan and Feb, with total daylight for May Jun Jul and Aug.

Re: Clock Change
It was introduced during the 1st World War. Longer working hours.
Fretty who says what is the correct time. Back before railways every town had a separate time all a few minutes out with each other. This fecked up railway timetables so we got railway time.

Re: Clock Change
Just thought that GMT was the accepted 'standard' time. BST was (re-)introduced in the 70's to save energy after the oil-crisis.

Re: Clock Change
BST was introduced in 1916, it was experimented with removing it for a couple of years in the late 60's early 70's by us moving all years to BST, but they changed their minds and went back to the split.

Re: Clock Change
Ha Ha. Victorian time would mean different times in every town at least until the railways got established.kimangelis wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2017 5:36 pm Don't see the reason for it any more.
