Big Finish Doctor Who inspired audio plays  Really well recorded and mixed I think. Currently Dalek Empire IV part 3 :)
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

Yesterdays post brought me 2 CD's the first is 'Tap:Book of Angels' from Pat Metheny. I'm slowly working my way through Pat's many and diverse recordings. This album is unusual in that he did not write the material but arranged music that John Zorn (another groundbreaking Jazz guitarist) had created as a part of an enormous project inspired by Jewish tradition and culture.

Pat plays everything here (except some drum parts) and uses his Orchestrion robot-powered orchestra occasionally as backing. The music is varied from intense to peaceful, with a lot of middle-eastern and gypsy-style influences shining through in places. Recording quality is, as usual, sublime. Needs to be listened to a few times. Intriguing.

And then we have:

After Jammy's enthusiasm over this I decided to get it, currently moving into a heavy ´Porcupine Tree´ appreciation period. At first listen it sounds a bit more optimistic than much of the other albums I´ve heard from him. He also is moving in a parallel course to Opeth on their recent releases (no surpises there) and there are certain influences such as Yes and Deep Purple that can clearly be noticed. SW is making amazing music and can be regarded - along with the Porcupine Tree work - as the contemporary successor to the crown of Pink Floyd.
