Re: Attenuated Interconnects for CD players

Attenuating the input is possible, but I think the L-pad (one resistor in series and one across the load) has to be custom specified to each application ideally. I may be wrong here though. I tried that on the input of my old Naim 62 preamp and it killed the sound. The only thing that worked was to...

Re: Why do people join hi-fi forums

For me it was to learn. My first post was to ask for a small, fast, exciting speaker to upgrade my Kef coda 8s. Someone suggested mk2 Kans and apart from the lack of bass, they were great.

Re: Little known Royd facts.

I would do it myself if I had the time and the finance, but I don't I am happy where I am. BUT I am so cross about those joke speakers using his name that if anyone can get the name off them I would contribute them designs and teach them how to build them based on how I know Joe did it (I use a lot...

Re: Little known Royd facts.

just name cash in as they were broke due to the flat earth bullshit taking over the industry. It must have been (and still is I should imagine) frustrating to KNOW it was bullshit. I'm embarrassed to admit that I fell for it but luckily I didn't go too far up the upgrade path. Not sure if I can say...

Re: Speakers

I wish I'd heard more of the later Royds, as IMO they definitely got better for my tastes anyway, over the years. I have very fond memories of the Minstrel SE. I had a pair of Royd Sorcerer SE but quickly sold them because they were as dull as dishwater. The guy I sold them too also sold them becau...

Re: JPW AP2

I know he ran the Royd Minstrel midbass driver direct because I've had them apart but I don't know about the other Royd models. There is also a steel plate on the back panel and wadding at the top and bottom of the cabinets. It's a very clever design IMO and could be made even better with a polyprop...
