Hello all.
Has anyone got an AP10H lying around gathering dust? I use Quad headphones and I prefer an NVA unit to sit alongside my NVA Integrated amp and Cube speakers.
Thank you, Derek

Re: NVA Headphone amp.
If my memory serves me right, the AP10P is just an AP10H with some speaker outputs? Is the internal wiring the same (apart from the speaker drivers of course), or is the AP10P headphone performance inferior to the AP10H.
Thanks in advance...... Derek

Bought the AP10P anyway... at the end of the day I want the Doc's product. Been listening through his stuff for over 35 years and mighty glad I did. Thank you all.

There is no switching. To listen to headphones only, disconnect the speaker cables at the amplifier end first.

Re: NVA Headphone amp.
Thank you Paul. I will be using the AP10P as a headphone amplifier only, so will not be connecting speakers. I would have preferred an AP10H, but second hand they're like hens teeth, and I got the AP10P at a very reasonable price. I intend to use the Tape Out connection on my A70 for the AP10P, so the pre-amp section of the A70 is bypassed. The volume to the headphones will then be controlled by the pot on the AP10P. Kind regards, Derek

Yep, that's the way to do it - bypassing the pre-amp volume pot. The P and H are exactly the same, bar the addition of speaker outlets on the P. They sound exactly the same.kimangelis wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2025 7:34 pm Thank you Paul. I will be using the AP10P as a headphone amplifier only, so will not be connecting speakers. Re: NVA Headphone amp.
Thank you for confirming my plan. I sort-of thought the H and P would be sonically identical, as there no reason the Doc would have done otherwise. Regards...

Re: NVA Headphone amp.
Hello all.
Can anyone please help?
On the rear facia of my NVA A70 integrated amplifier, I have Tape Play and Tape Record twin phono sockets. I have connected a pair of SSP's between the Tape Play and the AP10H inputs, then switched the front selector knob to Tape.
Played a CD and nothing through the headphones. So....
1. Moved the selector to CD, and plays through speakers fine.
2 Connected the CD direct to the AP10P, and plays through headphones fine.
Any ideas anyone?
