No, the nurses in Holland don't look like that - but they are polite, friendly and efficient.

Just had a visit from the Home Front who brought a bag of necessities like Hifiman Sundara's and my e-reader with a couple of unstarted titles. One I'm just getting into is David Mitchell's 'Unruly' - a history of Britain's rulers from the Dark Ages up to Good Queen Bess. If you like your history brutally honest with a large dose of wit and irreverence then this is a must read.

So, let's see, I've got books, music and nothing else to do but lie around.

I think I'm on holiday!

A couple of months ago, two nephews here took out a family-bundle subscription to Tidal, where you pay one amount for 5 or 6 separate users. They had a slot over and offered it to me. Out of curiosity I said 'yes' but haven't made any proper use by if it - until now.

It's a Godsend! Stuck in a 4-bed ward with patients of varying seriousness from 'just' pneumonia (me) to an 80+ gentleman who I was convinced wouldn't make it through last night (he did!), I have unlimited access to a truly vast selection of music which includes all the old favourites I want to hear at the moment.

The Hifiman Sundara's are producing pleasing sounds with just my OnePlus phone driving them.

Now ploughing through Steve Hackett's later albums and onto the extremely varied 'To Watch the Storms'.

My sanity has been saved.

After a fun-packed week of being pumped full of antibiotics, hospital food, confused fellow-patients etc. - the week ended with me having a cardiac incident (arhythmia) and being shifted to Intensive Care for 24 hours.

Finally back home, tired but relieved. Hope I don't have to go through that again anytime soon.

Bloody Hell, you've had a rough go of it, mate. Still, if you're going to have a "cardiac incident" hospital (as I told my mum) is the best place to have it. Take it easy, and let yourself heal fully.
