The midrange opening was to wide , so a piece of carbon fibre was used with the appropriate circle cut into . Cutting a circle in cf is bloody hard .

Contact glue sealed the carbon fibre in place , the driver isn't heavy and dome midranges have low velocity moving mass so it should be enough to hold it in place .
When the cabinets are complete , I am going to nick an idea from Sonus Faber and cover the baffle in faux leather .

Today , im feeling rather foolish . A capacitor discharge tool as arrived and I'm wondering why I haven't had one sooner . It would have saved a fortune in blown boards .
I console myself with the fact I've had a major brain injury and a survival rate of 20% makes me lucky beyond belief

I used to use an old bedside lamp with 60W bulb in it and crocodile clips on the end of the live and neutral wires.

Capacitor discharge tool? What do you think your tongue and your fillings are for?!

Despite Linydsey's recommendation , I resisted the temptation to use my tongue ( it's 45 volts ) but the tool did as advertised though it took longer than 3 seconds and I successfully fitted the fm300a boards .
Quick listen and oh there so much detail . BBC recordings of genesis , mama ,you can hear the crowd clearly . Better definition and separation .
It's been some time but my memory was not playing tricks

I watched a you tube factory tour of bowers and Wilkins
The way they made cabinets was interesting , if beyond the means of the humble 1armed diyer . What was interesting was the way they strengthened the baffle with a metal insert .
Strengthening the baffle was not something Id considered ,
