I’m way out of my league here; that much is now obvious.

Same here as I do not get to hear a lot of kit. But four years ago I did get to hear slim ported floor standers demonstrating the Mscaler at a dealers. It was not a pleasant experience.

Steve was being sarcastic.

Enjoy the music, it's that simple.

When I was a lawyer ( I had a major brain bleed if you didn't know 😂) I once had to listen to the opposing lawyer speak nothing but rhetoric for half an hour.
.
HHJ Hegerty reiterated the only point he made in one sentence . Which made me laugh out loud .

Using rhetoric necessarily means you've lost the arguement .

Also just because anyone hates the speakers
you love does not mean they are criticising your choice

Before slim floorstanders became ubiquitous, I thought there were some pretty good (for the money) sealed box speakers - Heybrook HB1, JPW P1/AP2/AP3, Snell K (the J might also have been sealed box at one time, iirc), and probably some AR models. Most had 8" mid/bass.
