Sci-Fidelity

Just watched the opening episode of 'Picard' season 3.

CLASSIC Star Trek, where season 2 focussed (too much) on Picard exorcising his own personal demons - season 3 is a blast back to boldly going to where we have all been before!

Title 'The Next Generation'.

Make it so.

Also working my way through a DVD box-set of Gerry Anderson's 'UFO' which is a hoot!

The voluptuous curves of Gabrielle Drake (sister of Nick) also bring back certain memories.

The UFO DVD box has now been joined by a 16-disc complete set of 'Space 1999'. German editions, as these are far easier (and cheaper) for me to get hold of.

Saw an interesting film on YouTube about how Space 1999 was originally planned as 'UFO2' but financial troubles and corporate pressures morphed it into something else.

Agree S2 of Picard was to say the least turgid, though who can blame the poor man, his dad was Baltar ffs...

Space 1999 and UFO are wonderful slices of the 1970's. Not a dystopian future in sight. Another cracker from that period which I've just finished is The Prisoner, again great fun.

Currently working through Eureka, nice light hearted fun as an antidote to some pretty grim times.

Eureka was fun, I'd put it in a basket with Warehouse 13. Haven is another good one, but a bit light on the laughs. My late wife and I both enjoyed Grimm and Sleepy Hollow, but our all-time favourite (and the best sci-fi series ever made) was Babylon 5. The Expanse, if you haven't seen it, comes close.

Every sci-fi fan should also watch the film, The Vast Of Night. It's an under-the-radar gem.

Don't know Eureka - will check it out.

Big fan of The Expanse - an absolute favourite (currently re-reading the books).
Along with Babylon 5 and the wonderful Firefly.

... and possibly my favourite Sci-fi film ever 'The Fifth Element'.

:sci-fi-beamup:

(I managed not to mention 'Blakes 7') :shhh:

Star Trek fans prepare to have your minds blown....

The August 3rd episode 'Subspace Rhapsody' transforms the 'Strange New Worlds' crew into a Hollywood musical.

Can't wait.

If it's as good as the Buffy musical episode...

Next week, by the way, I believe it's the "Lower Decks crossover" episode. I've really been looking forward to that one.
