So have it installed on the roof where they can't see and have the coax routed down the exterior wall to your flat. The Discone has a small vusual footprint actually.slinger wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 8:37 pmI think my upstairs neighbours might have something to say about that.George Hincapie wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 7:31 pm If you get into it seriously, buy a discone antenna and have it chimney mounted by a TV installer. For the coax, buy Messi & Paoloni UltraFlex 10 from Martin Lynch & Sons. It's ultra low loss.
Dependant upon propagation, you'll be able to receive signals from all over the world. It's fascinating.
Unfortunately, I live in a small block of maisonettes. I've got the two ground floors on my side and the people above me also have two floors.

Re: Software Defined Radio (SDR)
Any comments on what I've already bought, by the way? I did as much due diligence as possible, and I ended up more or less copying somebody else's setup I saw a pic of, but for all intents and purposes, I was buying blind.
As I say, I'm only after having a bit of fun. If it eventually develops into a full-blown hobby, then so be it, but I'm not really looking that far ahead.

All good choices mate, you should have fun. The antenna will be fine to start and you should be able to pick up loads.
