How people surprise you!

We recently gave (quite a bit of) our time for free (as we regularly do) to talk a guy through how to repair his 'heritage' NVA amps. The guy was very thankful (or, he gave that impression).

A few months later, the guy posts this on our Facebook page about our new prototype (my response is also shown)...

That's... disappointing.

No accounting for taste.

I can recall that RD's original 'minimalist' design received similar comments back in the 80's.
"Wot - no flashing lights or VU meters ??!!!"

isn't it more important how it sounds?

Not that surprised by his comments as the preferences and opinions posted on forums never cease to amaze me and the same goes for the enthusiast who heard my system.

For me it is quite simple, all about the music and the evidence of my ears taking guidance only from those whose opinions I respect. I will hold my hand up about being wrong concerning mass being the best option for Cubes after inserting the Iso Pucks. The oak stands are arriving tomorrow.

I'm not surprised that some people will like the design and some people won't - that is always going to be the case.

What did surprise me (a little) is that someone who we went out of our way to help, would go onto a public page to rubbish us.

It appears that social media disconnects (some) people from the consequences of their actions, so completely, that they simply don't think before typing.

As my mother used to say, " If you've got nothing nice to say about something, then don't say 'owt "

That is a whole subject all on its own. Keyboard warriors who wouldn't say boo to a goose in front of a total stranger in the pub, butting into online conversations, frothing, fulminating and effin' & blindin' about subjects they know nothing about, care nothing about, and can do nothing about, but think they have a God-given right to pontificate about. :angry-soapbox:

Sounds like a politician.

Personally, I would be very happy to own NVA amplification were it not for the fact that I use various pieces of equipment with widly differing output levels.

I think you’ve done this man a disserve.

He merely expressed his opinion on the new design . For whatever reason he has strong feelings. He then stated the new design would not find favour in his rack .

Anything else you have read into his words he didn’t actually say .

Are you suggesting he should restrain the expression of his feelings on a completely different forum and a completely different matter because you helped him out free of charge ?

Or perhaps you are suggesting he should of mentioned how nice you were on another matter before he expressed his opinions .

Yes, I am, to a degree.

We are a micro business, trying to do business the right way. Context is important.
