As always I am late to the party, I have tickets for Lathums in Liverpool in May. In the past month we have seen Christine & the Queens, Victoria Warehouse Manchester, decent but not as good as when we saw her at the Apollo. Franc & Moody, New Century Hall Manchester, tickets were a gift so not sure to expect but they were full on and the majority of full house danced their backsides off, then the Teskey Brothers Albert Hall Manchester, I love the Teskeys but the Albert has woeful acoustics and it's the last time I will go there, it ruined it and it was a pale shadow of the first time we saw them at the Ritz and last but not least Billy Nomates at New Century Hall, good gig but I thought the support who I had never heard of (RVG) stole the show, echos of Patti Smith.

Just been to see Merry Hell on Saturday. Good but the opening act, Anthony John Clark, was even better. He's on at the Liverpool Phil November 9th.

Also at the Phil are Lula Reinhardt & Yullya Lonskaka on 20th May, 8.00 p.m.. If you like a fusion of gypsy jazz and classical guitars you are in for a treat - and only £12.00 + booking fee.

Went to Barbara Dixon's farewell at the Liverpool Phil. Pretty good and as is often the case, the bass player was awesome but the drummer needed a muff.

The live music scene in Cardiff has received a hammer blow with the roof repairs to St Davids Hall going on for what seems eternity. Steve Hackett was one who had to cancel but fortunately he has moved it to the arena a short distance away, with around three times the capacity, on a different day in October. Got tickets yesterday. It will be The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway 50th anniversary tour. Unlike the Foxtrot and Selling England 50th anniversary tours, which I attended at St Davids Hall, the album will not be performed in full.

The New Theatre is now substituting as a music venue and I wanted to get a ticket for Suzi Quatro in November, but the box office was closed. Will go next time I'm in town. I do not like lining the pockets of ticket agent sharks if I can avoid it. Had a ticket to see SQ last year which was refunded because of the St Davids Hall repairs.

Hackett doing 'The Lamb ...' should be great! I will just have to wait for the inevitable live-album release.
