Rega Planar 8 and Hana SL
Rega Planar 8 and Hana SL
Just upgraded my turntable to a Rega Planar 8 and Hana SL from a Rega RP6 and Exact. Bought a Graham Slee Elevator to add to my Graham Slee Accession Phono Stage. Plugged into an pre/power NVA amp (I think A 60) onto Klipsh Heresy 3 speakers. Wow! Ok it cost me a fortune but the difference is night and day. Would highly recommend!

Re: Rega Planar 8 and Hana SL
I think the 'skeleton' designs are a definite step up. I liked a lot about the 10 when I heard it, and I know a couple of people who are very happy with their 8s.
Idlers are my gig but I get why the 8 and 10 sell.

Well that's just about as minimal as you can get!
Does your NVA A60 also have an onboard phono section?

Re: Rega Planar 8 and Hana SL
Hi Fretless No the A60 is an nva power amp and I have a NVA pre P50 I think. Bought new a couple of years ago. I realise the move to Moving coil cartridge and Planar 8 from what I had was quite a big step up but I am still amazed at the difference in quality. Bought from Audio republic in Leeds who told me it would be on a different level, and they were right! Massively increased sense of space, definition and harmony in the base notes, unbelievable mid-range. Much less noticable clicks even on records I bought when I was 16 which , let's say, have a history. I was using my vinyl less previously because my RME A2 Day had transformed my digital/CD playing experience but this is just on a completely different level. Immersed in the music.

Andrew at Audio Republic used to be my dealer. A nice guy. Haven't seen him or any other dealer since 2007. He is good at setting up LP12's. I might go see him when it's new cartridge time.

Great album. The Mission were huge when I lived in the Leeds/Bradford area.
