Is there much difference between this and the current design other than the number of boxes?

Looks to be an active design, the current pre-amps are passive.

Looks pretty well identical to the1986 NVA setup I am currently using. The Treshams were also designed by RD.

My NVA preamp has the line inputs all passive and the PSU is there only to power the phono board inside the preamp. Early NVA power amps had an umbilical output that could also be used to run the phono stage without the PSU.

RD's phono stage is still sounding very fine here and that Tresham will probably do so as well.

Edit: one wonders if the 'R' stickers on the back stand for 'Richard'?

I would put in a bid myself if it weren't for the almost 40 pounds postage and extra customs charge to get it out of the UK.

Did anyone on 'win' that?

Bidding heated up in the last few minutes (I was watching) and it went for £122.

I thought all Tresham stuff was PA gear ? That doesn't look very PA

Richard wanted to make domestic audiophile amps. So he took these designs and began NVA.

Just for the sake of it, the original NVA 'Big Knob' P50 preamp
(this is a later model after RD had removed the tape monitor switch).



And the Tresham DR-1 which was re-badged when RD started up on his own as NVA.

Yes I owned that exact Tresham System in preference to anything built by Naim back in the day although I can't honestly remember exactly when it was, maybe late 70's or early 80's my mind plays tricks these days. I seem to remember it was known back then as the Tresham System 1.
