I wondered if people could recommend someone in the UK to run a meter over my cd92, or should I just keep it going as is, probably not in its first flush any more?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

So, exactly how old is this cdp ? Have you had it powered up 24/7 for it's whole lifetime? The psu capacitors have the hardest life as they have to deal with most psu ripple after the raw psu. Tbe capacitors around the regulators and IC's have an easier life as most of the ripple is dealt with by the psu smoothing caps.

I have a Naim cdp which i have modified the bollox off. It was very rewarding and brought many improvements to the sound imo. It was manufactured in 1997 and to be honest i have not even touched many of the caps around the various LM317 regulators in those 23 years.

Don't sweat it, don't worry. Audiophiles are the worst kind of worriers getting anal about all sorts of things when all they should be doing is enjoying the music.

My Arcam CD62t is the same vintage and still sounds sweet (on the rare occasions that it gets used).

First thing to check on an old CDP : does the laser head need cleaning and are the laser-array rails free of dirt.
