I think Johnson is being put under a lot of pressure to boot him out from Conservative MPs who have received emails from angry constituents. Apparantly Demonic Dom is at No 10 now. Fingers crossed.

Suggests that they are planning his exit. How to limit damage.

I'd like to see Cummings go, but watching Johnson squirm bluster and prevaricate for a few more days, first, would be the icing on the cake.

Sacking him today would send out the right message with the Bank Holiday tomorrow and good weather. People would be less likely to crowd the beaches if they know Demonic Dom did not get away with major breaches.

While, like you., I think that Johnson squirming is very watchable TV, I want him gone, over and done with, end of, and then we'll see how they get on without him.
I watched Shapps this morning, and he was absolutely woeful. He wasn't properly prepared, his answers verged on the laughable, and when he was asked how he "knew" for certain that Cummings hadn't visited the area a second time he referenced a"statement from Number 10." Well, that's good enough for me. Cummings wrote a statement and Johnson released it. The people who saw him on the 19th are just big fibbers. I'm glad that's settled and the Conservatives can get back to making money and killing old people; playing to their strengths, as it were.

My wish for it to play out painfully for a few more days is for the maximum possible damage to be done to Johnson, not for my own enjoyment (that is a satisfactory side effect, though).

Rumour is that Johnson will support Demonic Dom at todays delayed briefing. This will be a bad thing for the containment of the virus and also for Johnson in the long term. Tory leaders have been ousted by coupsbefore, most recently Theresa May.
