I've had a lovely day with the Garrard. She's no slouch on any genre, but she's exceptional on classical, and I've been getting through a pile of 'Speakers Corner' re-issues that were delivered a few weeks back - very nice German pressings and sensible money.

My old carbon / velvet pad is looking a little weary, these days, though. Must be 20+ years old, when I think of it

Anyone got any love for a particular brush they have found to be effective / good value. Doesn't need to be 'industrial strength' - everything goes through the Okki Nokki and gets new inners.

20+ years, thats nothing. I have had mine for 38 years! It still comes out on the rare occasions I play vinyl. The make is NUWAY. At the time I was responsible for accessories at a tv/video/hifi shop and the NUWAY rep came round quite regulary, pushing products. I would order what I thought would sell and liked this carbon fibre brush. Can't remember if I paid for it or if it was a favour for placing an order.

I went through a bunch of different pads and brushes a while ago, and this was the one that I stuck with (ignore the rest of the kit):



I prefer pads to the carbon fire brushes, and this was best pad, I think. After using the pad, I remove the leftover line of dust with one of these:

I wondered about a blusher brush, as it happens. Looks uncannily similar to the Futuretech one that sells for £135.

Maybe there are some important differences?

I've always preferred a fibre brush over a pad, mainly due to the fact that you can flip it back and forth to clean the bristles without touching them. I've also found it to be effective at removing the crud.

The hairs are different - synthetic on the blusher, natural on the Furutech. The Furutech also has some extra synthetic fibres which reduce static on the surface of the record. I have both. I think the blusher is actually better for the removing the line of dust left by the pad, but the Furutech is good for reducing static.

I use an Okki Nokki to wet clean, and a Zero-Stat before each play, so I reckon the blusher might be all that's needed.

Yes I reckon so. The Furutech is nice, but I wouldn't say it was worth the extra expense over the blusher.

I use 2, a tonar curved pad, and an old deram carbon fibre bristled job.
The curved pad gets most of the crap off, then the deram one finishes the job.
I should have just got a hunt eda one that has both a pad and bristles.
But I'm a tight sod
