Just had my annual (missed a few thanks to Covid) Christmas concert with my choir: 'Ding Dong Merrily', 'Once in Royal Davids City' and finishing with 'Silent Night' (in Dutch).

Feels really special to do a small intimate performance again with a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Went on my one and only Christmas doo last night (band outing). Singer was driving cos he was at work early. We got around a bit and had a few pints. I resent spending the money but persuaded them to go to the cheaper establishments including one Sam Smiths and a Weatherspoons.

We had a good time but every pub we went in was dead. Certainly not a busy run up to Christmas like days of old. Maybe not relevant to this thread but are the days of pubs as we know them numbered ? On last nights show I do worry about the economic outlook for this shit hole fascist country. I did some last minute shopping yesterday as well and the shopping centre was far from busy even at 11am when I left. There were more boarded up shops than I ever remember.

Have not been in a pub for over month. Went to Cheltenham for the Christmas drink up two weeks ago in the knowledge that it would be day light robbery at the racecourse, £7.40 a pint. :angry-screaming: We did not have many. Instead we got blasted on the train up with our own cocktails. :guiness; It was cans at a Tesco Extra for the journey back.

Pubs in the suburbs of Cardiff are closing right left and centre, but the ones in town seem to be holding up. The pub nearest to me is on borrowed time and four others near by, two under new ownership, never seem busy. It seems Covid hit the industry very hard and prices have gone up a lot since. Far cheaper to drink at home.
