Following my usual course of 'if it sounds that good - it can sound even better' . I have been busy again.
In Slinger's report on his Tinkerboard escapades he mentions a USB reclocker from Oehlbach. Having a look at this I remembered another strange little device I had run across a while back, the Schiit Wyrd.
Now trying saying that 10 times.
Doesn't inspire much hope, somehow.
Nor does the fact that they describe the unit as a 'USB decrapifier'. Now there's eloquence for you.

So, what does it do ? Well the USB signal goes in at one side and back out on the other. In between, the data stream is completely regenerated and the power lines are cleared of any noise. Apparently it works, producing an effect that would seem similar to that of a BMU in the system: cleaner, richer, more detailed and living audio. And all that for 89 euro.
We'll see. I've just ordered one.
Along with that, a second Inakustik Excellence USB cable. This link has really impressed me as it combines the smoothness ot the AQ Cinnamon and the punchy accuracy of the Supra USB2. Sounding better than both of these, more expensive, cables. Inakustik are a small German company who have built up a good reputation for high-quality, no-nonsense products at affordable prices. Their Excellence/Excellenz range is the sub-top, just under the Reference range. Sort of 'Budget Esoteria'. Anyway it's a superb cable and the stock Inakustik Premium USB is also nice - use that in the office setup from PC to DAC.
