slinger were you not tempted to add some speakers in or near your ceiling and to go for an atmos receiver?
So that about twice on each modern blockbuster film on blu-ray you'd notice gimmicky sound effects like birds twittering in trees above you, or a helicopter flying overhead?

Even I don't take things that far. I'm quite happy with my 5 speakers and a sub. The amp was £259.00 on Amazon but I could actually have shaved a tenner off if I'd ordered it from Richer.

The amp has just arrived and, having taken it out of the box, I'm a bit surprised, and pleasantly so. It's slightly smaller than the old Onkyo. The images on Amazon, for some reason, made it look as if it would turn out to be slightly taller. Wouldn't you know it, though, my sinusitis has kicked in overnight so every time I bend over it's like being punched between the eyes. It's going to be a long job setting it up a little at a time and then having a bit of a sit-down.
It's a good job I've got the patience of a saint... DAMMIT!!!!

All plumbed in. TV Blu-ray, Amazon, and Chromecast all working. I'll do a full setup on the speakers tomorrow.

yep these modern av amps are a right pita to set up.
you're doing it right though..a bit at a time. dont forget to check for updates.

just plumbed in an Arcam AV888 to my lounge rig, DTS MA and Dolby TrueHD are a massive upgrade over the compressed versions
