If I remove anymore things from my gear then we will be playing our own musical instruments for entertainment

My bass-guitar rig is more complicated than my stereo.

I have recently bought Sbooster power supplies for my DAC and streamer and have listened with them plugged into the BMU, via a MCRU extension block, and directly plugged into the mains. What a difference! Unlike with the MCRU PSs I previously used there is a big increase in dynamics coupled with a slight improvement in depth.

It shows how important clean power and quality PSs are, something RD would always emphasise. A lot is made of the loudness wars and rightly so, but the problems can be minimised to a large extent by quality power. I have no complaints about the dynamics on most recordings. The BMU was the first item of NVA kit I bought five years ago and, in the context of my mains and system, it adds so much.

BMU's still don't work well with switching power supplies, though,

The effect of the BMU is very much mains dependent. RD was at a loss to explain why and I certainly can't. I am also coming round to thinking the components and systems also have some sort of effect. With the Sboosters connected I have found that I am getting the same volumes on peaks with the notches on the P90SA set one lower - greater dynamic range. I am also aware of an improvement at low volumes. There is more head room.

Switch mode power supplies are an absolute shit-storm of EMI noise and, in my opinion have no place in a proper hifi setup.
If you have to have one, keep it as far as possible away from "clean" mains stuff. Never, ever would I plug one into my BMU

Put my Vault on my BMU and it ended up cooking part of the top of the case. Plugged it into the wall socket and everything but my temper improved.

Sussed it.

A thread from AOS has been copied to WAM raising safety concerns about the BMU. Significant that it was started by someone who had a lot of issues with Richard Dunn, to put it mildly. I suspect a unit has been tampered with.

Yep, this sort of misinformation fuelled by malicious agenda is what Richard had to put up with...and it seems that some people still have a grudge. I have managed to have a conversation with the OP at Audio Addicts (he posted the thread at several forums). You can read it, here: https://audioaddictsforum.com/thread/18 ... d-balanced

UPDATE - apology received. Matter closed.

Had not visited Audio Addicts for a long time. Something of a ghost forum now. Even the person who started it left.
