And today in 2022, we have someone saying this:
"The prototype turntable developed by Ivor Tiefenbrun in 1969/70 was based on the TD150. Ivor had once owned and then sold a TD150 and couldn't get on with the deck that replaced it so decided to develop his own version using parts machined in his Fathers factory. The Ariston RD11 was based on this prototype after Hamish Robertson got involved in 1970."

We can all make up our own minds as to how truthful that paragraph is.

Just as we can all make up our own minds as to whether Terry Kniess got the exact price on the showcase final of The Price Is Right due to him and his wife being big fans of the show. Or whether it was simply a case of Theodore telling Linda Kniess the price which she relayed to her husband. With Terry then spinning a bullshit version of events. As told in this video starting from 55:40

Edit:
Here's the 20 signs of a psychopath:

Superficially charming; “silver tongued”
Self-absorbed and egocentric
Easily bored, in need of constant stimulation
Habitual liar
Manipulative
Shows no remorse; rationalizes wrongdoings, says people deserve it
Shallow emotions
Lacks empathy
Exploits the goodwill of others especially financially
Sexually promiscuous
Impulsive
Behaves recklessly
Accepts no responsibility for actions
Had behavior problems as a child
Lacks inhibitions
Has no long term goals
Has many short term relationships
No respect for authority, including the law
Thinks they are never wrong
May be highly intelligent, but has no conscience

Psychopathy is a spectrum condition. There's a range. From mild to full on, everything set at 11.
The fully maxed out psychopaths tend to end up in prison.
Most psychopaths are in the category of "good" psychopaths. Andy McNabb being a famous example of one.
Psychopaths tend to be good at getting to the top of organisations. A large proportion of US Presidents since 1945 have been psychopaths.
About 1% to 2% of the populations are psychopaths.

In the business world it's common for psychopaths to take the credit for the actions of others.

On page 5 of that lengthy PFM thread on Linn links are posted to an interview with Ivor in the early 90s. He is questioned as to why Linn are manufacturing a CD player when previously they had nothing but contempt for the medium. Ivor's response is on the lines of Linn developing the technology to make CD sound good.

At the risk of being laughed off this forum, that was exactly my experience. I went through a number of CD players before I found one I could stand. I still have it after my daughter had finished with it, A Meridain 506 - claims to be a compact CD player but it's not by today's standards.

Maybe Ivor was right, I don't know but there are good sounding CD players out there.

There is a lot more to this interview which initially concerns Linn ditching dealers for stocking alternative products, with a reference to amplifiers. This is what really got under the skin of RD at the time. I can recall him posting about a phone call he had with Ivor when he was not able to get a word in. Linn were obviously in breach of trading standards legislation and the only way round it was to line the pockets of the Thatcher government.

I seem to recall that my local dealer Audio T no longer stocked Linn at around this time.
