Being tolerant, fair, thoughtful, kind, just a little bit nicer to each other..is not PC GONE MAD!!!!

Yes there are a few 'rent-a-quotes' who take things out of context, but, overall, anti discrimination legislation, education and integration have been hugely positive for our society.

People spout pc cause they dont like change.

But change is inevitable as the young are advocates.

I mainly play 70s and 80s rock where sexist lyrics abound. Suppose that makes me politically uncorrect.

Your records are of their time.

It is an example of DQ's point that change is inevitable...

I mainly play classical music, so no-one can be offended by the lyrics.

Therein actually lies the rub. The problem with the excessive levels of political correctness is that they can't differentiate between real life and throw away stuff. You can listen to and enjoy those songs it DOESN'T make you sexist. You CAN laugh at a joke about an irish or black person it DOESN'T make you racist. If you REALLY think all Irish people are thick then you probably are racist but we all know that it simply isn't the case! I laugh at Irish jokes and I'm married to an Irish woman.

All about context. I doubt you would tell the same jokes to an Irish or black person you had just met. Forums are full of people that you have never met, and they are public.

If my old mum says coloured instead of black then I know that it's because she grew up with that term, and I think nothing of it. If Amber Rudd says it, who is a Cabinet Minister who lives in London and used to run the department that caused the Windrush deportation scandal, then I think that she is both thoughtless and incompetent.
