Yer fav MIDSOMER MURDERS episode
There are now over 100 episodes.
Blind Child enjoys most the ones centering about paganism - and there were quite a few. (The ones Blind Child enjoys less are connected to sports: murder on the cricket patch; at the golf course.
Just watched NIGHT OF THE STAG (with Warren Clarke guesting) and this was quite good.
Actually this Set 22 has another paganism episode - The Sleeper Under The Hill - about modern day druids, a stone circle and mystical ley-lines. (Ley-lines are geometrical lines, apparent alignments (at first speculated across Western Europe and Great Britian) postulated by Watkins in the early 1920s which connect ancient churches, standing stones, hill forts, causeways, wayside crosses, landmarks both natural and man-made, burial tors. Some thought that where these mystical lines cross, neolithic kings (and treasure) was buried.
Blind Child says "mystical" but it shoud be noted that the supernatural connnection only came later - Watkins saw them only as practical lines; quickest way of getting from one site/landmark of significance to another.)
Anyways, Night Of The Stag is about two rather insular Midsomer villages separated by a valley. Warren Clarke is out to revive a 700 year old practice between the two villages where - to combat in-breeding - come night-time the men of each village cross over to the next village and fertilize the women.

Re: Yer fav MIDSOMER MURDERS episode
Aye. They made more than one about geezers from 70s rock bands coming in on a village. Village rock-revival .The one with Scots actor James Cosmo coming in on the motorcycle and Barnaby pulling out his old stash of lps which he hadn't enjoyed in decades.
In that "Sleeper ..." episode Barnaby's partner,Ben,is enjoying a folk-rock band in a noisy pub and cannot hear Barnaby's call on the cell phone. Barnaby later playfully chews him out - I forget how it goes exactly but Barnaby is lenient on him when he finds out Ben had to ENDURE folkROCK music.

Re: Yer fav MIDSOMER MURDERS episode
Yep . The best episodes had to do with earth magic anorl.
.......
You Brits must have lotta spare time for hobbies.
Notice how many of the Midsomer episodes have to do with serious competion between factions of the same hobby interest?
Like the comic books episode, the battle reconstruction, the butterfly/mushroom collectors,....
Also lotta murders commited during marque-ed, outdoor fetes held on village commons or on front lawns of local rich tossers mansions. And BOTH Barnaby's wives seem to have so much time to help organize these events.
By the way,Joyce, wife of Barnaby no. 1, actress Jane Wymark must have been a real hot cracker when young.

I don't remember a hi-fi forum one - maybe just *yet*. Instead of fetes we have bake-offs.
Remember the Agatha Christie story one when they are killed off one after the other.

Re: Yer fav MIDSOMER MURDERS episode
There was a good episode about a clash between digital and old style photography. Wonder if they will ever make one concerning ana!ogue and digital audio. Passions can run high.

Re: Yer fav MIDSOMER MURDERS episode
Yeah - killed off one after the other.
That is the trouble with this series - they almost never leave it at just the one murder. Sometimes its 4 or 5 murders in the same (small) village over a period of just DAYS.(That would, in the real world, mean only one of two possibilities - the murderer is right off his nut or...he WANTS to get caught.)
Makes Barnaby look a roight tit, duntcha fink?
But, then again , you're not to take it seriously. Wot some people fail to realize is that, unlike any other mystery series, this is a FANTASY.
Midsomer is a fantasy-world of quaint, picturesque English villages. (There is a map somewhere on the web).
Like Gormenghast -where the entire created world is a gigantic castle - Midsomer is a world of villages...albeit set in contemporary time with cell phones anorl.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but did you ever see any city in Midsomer? (The one they keep repeating is Causton. I believe, a town.
Do you ever hear any of the characters mention, say, London?
Midsomer is its own closed world.
