Hi Richard or anyone else interested in replying 🤗
I’ve noticed several A40 power amps, I presume are stereo, and wondered if you were able to date them as the cases appear really different, casing and input/power sockets also different.
Are they still a good buy sonically matching current A20 for example
I biamp with 2 A20s and would eventually like an A60 for mid/bass so wondered how these would match up.
I don’t like the look of the casing as I much prefer the current look.
I was going to email this query but thought it might be useful on the forum
Cheers for any information
Peter

I noticed it to, they are nearly 40 years old. IMO they are asking far too much money, but I think this about everything including 2nd hand, As new product (apart from NVA) has gone to stooopid prices so 2nd hand has followed a bit. Personally I wouldn't pay over £100 for an amp over 30 years old. I think they are same amp as to get three identical early 80s amps that look identical being listed is too much of a co-incidence, and if they have front panel switch then they are nearly 40 years old. I wouldn't touch them, it all looks a bit fishy.

No worries, thanks for the info, more out of curiosity than buying interest.
They have been advertised for many months, I noted them when I first got the P20 / A20 beginning of the summer

It is odd for 3 identical amps that old to appear. They will be scruffy if they are real sales at that age, but nothing wears out, they should work perfectly well. The latest amps are better due to classII construction and other changes, but still more musical than a contemporary Naim.
