BEATLES THE wHITE aLBUM
"I started a thread which started the whole world crying
But you didn't see that the joke was on you.
Audiofools started to cry which started the whole world laughing
Oh If you'd only seen that the joke was on you."
-Bee Gees
Okay - wots this thread really about then.
Like always - its about these laughable creatures - audiofools.
If I may gently point out; one can hardly expect you audiofools to understand:
this thread is about how average Audiofool KNOWS FACK ABOUT MUSIC. DOESN'T EVEN RATE IT.
Proof is on this forum:
How much attention being paid to the "music" section here?
For instance, Blind Child talks prog and psych. Only THREE people here respond. The rest of you are either clueless or don't give a rat's arse. (Or, TO THE POINT, both.)
So then let's take another angle:
I'm posting this thread on something you all - EVEN YOU CLOSE-MINDED AUDIOFOOLS - should have familiarity with: BEATLES WHITE ALBUM.
Let's see if THIS gets any acknowledgment here.

Re: BEATLES THE wHITE aLBUM
Welley-well well. Now here is a fine howdy-doo.
Another Beatles 50th anniversary remix,EXPANDED box.
this time it is 7 cds.
So then. Wot do we get:
A blueray with high-res files of the stereo and MONO (fack it)mixes of the album. Yeah mono mix - that's something I REALLY need.
A selection of latter-day renditions of old FUCKING American R&B/country shit like St louis Blues, Blue moon and Presley's 'You're so square"
The Beatles hocked-up some 100 takes of certain songs beefwhore they cut itdown to 30 for the final cut.
3 cds contain 50 other recordings from the White Album sessions. Also you have tracks like "Hey Jude","Lady Madonna" and 'Let it Be" which did not make it to the Album but were done at the same time - most, to George Martin's displeasure, not during regular Abbey Road , 9-5 hours.
Aso Harrison's "Inner Light" and something called, "Not Guilty".
Then there are the Esher Demo Sessions.
Plus you gets the 164 page hardbound book.

Re: BEATLES THE wHITE aLBUM
Careful, don't insult your audience. My problem is I sit in awe at the knowledge expressed in this room about pop and prog. I could not compete or help along the conversation with you Hannas and Fretless, I would seem an eeediot.
Same thing as other expertise, audio design is largely limited to me and Lurcher, though input would be welcome from others. Music is important to me to listen to, it is not important for me to know backgrounds or ins and out I leave that to the Musofools , though when we get musicians here like Gromit in the old days they get loads of respect.
The question I would like to ask is do you play an instrument or play in a band, that deserves more respect than being able to win mastermind with Prog as the subject

Re: BEATLES THE wHITE aLBUM
Maybe they just don't want to talk music with someone they've never sat next to and listened to it with?
Certainly I have no interest in discussing the finer points of anything with someone who I know nothing about. i need a grounding in a person, a reference point if you will, before I'm ever likely to take an opinion on board.
Maybe that's just me...

Re: BEATLES THE wHITE aLBUM
A masterpiece?
Now really.
Let's be honest here.
Do you really find yourself not skipping certain tracks?
Granted side one IS near-perfick (with, of course, the exception of "Obla-di ,obladah" which Lennon called “granny music shit”.)
Now, think: you have just made a 4 sides of vinyl. Where are you going to place all

Re: BEATLES THE wHITE aLBUM
Now say you had the ambition and gall to make a 2 lp set.
How would you order the tracks?
It would be inevitable that everything could not be strong. So where would you put the duff tracks.
myself I would do it like this:
Side one would HAVE to be strong tracks.
I would put the shit onto side 2 and come back with stronger material on side three. It would be a sandwich!
Side 4 again would have to end strong.
And this is exactly how W.A. is presented us.

Re: BEATLES THE wHITE aLBUM
My christ-fucked computer is freezing-up every 2 minutes, so forgive my mistakes.
....
Now if anyone at all is reading this thread, doubtless you're thinking: 'But Blind Child! W.A. does NOT end strongly on side 4. Dammit it ends with the slurpy "Long And Winding Road"!"
I too thought that way for many a year, but this track really grows on you. I now consider itself one of Macca's best: alongside "Im Only Sleeping" and "Yesterday". Sure its sentimental 50s type stuff that McCartney wallows in - nonetheless an awesome track.

Re: BEATLES THE wHITE aLBUM
The White Album was the first album I bought (as opposed to getting as a present) and yes, I often skipped tracks. I have sometimes pondered whether it could be boiled down to one killer single album, but I think not. Best I can do is a three-sider.Mississippi Blind Child Assburn wrote: ↑Sun Sep 30, 2018 3:58 pm A masterpiece?

Definites for the chop:
Obla-Di; Don't Pass Me By, Piggies, Bungalow Bill, Martha My Dear.
Possibles for the chop:
Rocky Raccoon, I Will, Mother Nature's Son.
