Lotta bands have whacked, psychedelic coverarts but musically are anything but psychedelic. (Savoy Brown comes to mind.) Could this be something similar???
If its "southern rock" then I know nothing about that genre.

It just came to me that you said its a DOUBLE lp, so HAMPTON GREASE BAND "music to eat" came immediately to my head.
I went to check the cover in my collection but these are two things that go against the grain of entropy and the law of chaos and 50/50 probability:
1/ whenever I go for a can of fruit,veggies or soup I ALWAYS GET THE FRENCH LANGUAGE DIRECTIONS SIDE!
2/ whenever I go to search something in my lp collectro, ITS FREAKING HARD TO GET TO COS ITS IMMEDIATELY BEHIND MY SPEAKER STACKS!
....
Anyways, you now confirm it is Allmann Brothers.
I only have one Allmann Brothers in the collectro and that is the double live Filmore East set.
I dont know any of their other lps - with exception of their first lp (which I got rid of immediately on purchase.)
