To create the artwork for the cover of Pink Floyd's album Animals, a giant inflatable pig has been raised on a chain above Battersea Power Station - this was the 1970s after all. "Suddenly there was a large crack and the pig sailed up into the sky," sleeve designer Aubrey Powell said. "A helicopter followed but it couldn't catch it up. "We were really scared. I feared there would be a terrible airline crash."
The members of the prog rock group scarpered, air traffic into Heathrow was cancelled, RAF jets were dispatched and pilots reported seeing a pig flying at about 20,000ft (6,100m).
Powell was taken to his studio by police, and following a message put out on local radio stations, a farmer from Kent called to complain that a rogue pig had landed in his field and was frightening his cows.

Apparently in the Milwaukee stadium concert in 1977 the inflatable pig which they'd filled with acetylene, oxygen and helium - with igniter, broke free and exploded over the car park, damaging several cars.
They were seriously off their heads in those days.

There weren't so many rules and regulations back then so nobody thought about what could go wrong. Today there would be a risk assessment and lots of paperwork.
