Canterbury is a pointless pigeon hole name..

Amazes me how people always see prog as the Giant Roger Dean Stage shows, Taking ten tons of Equipment around the world, Pompous stage acts, Concept albums a go go.. Dross & an embarrassment to Prog. I hate all that crap & one of the main reasons i dislike 1973. This Fretless is clearly what you have in your head as being just what prog was about.

Try very hared to Seperate that from Crossover Prog which was basically the crossing over from Psychedelic music into Progressive.

Thats probably because you have it in you head what your head what your what most every body assumes prog is all about & its not all about standing on one leg playing flutes while off with the fairies spinning around in the air on a grand piano.

They did flit through a few sub-genres, blues-rock, classic rock, glam-rock, rock-and-roll, but probably not prog. That's just my opinion of course, and it depends on what your personal definition of "prog" was, or is

That's confusing the issue ( an attempt to define the use of progressive across genres). Wicki also have a page on prog rock.
