I would like to see a show run by an enthusiast. I don't expect it to lose money though.

I can't imagine anyone invests the amount of time and effort required to put on a show like that without expecting a return in some form, be it favour or fiscal. The world's just not full of Samaritans like that. If it keeps going then all power to him.

Though I'd prefer to see an enthusiast only show.
I would do it, it is also known as sponsorship.

In fact I have done it http://www.adventuresinhifiaudio.com/05 ... ion-three/

Fancy a bake-off event...

Each hifi forum puts together a system for a (sensible) set amount, say £1,500.

Who can create the best sound?

That was a great event.

What we need is some eccentric philanthropic owner of a country pile to host a similar event on an annual basis. To avoid having to pay a hotel to host it.

What would AT fetch? Nobody really knows what their diy efforts cost, i could hazard a guess at the cost of some of my bits and pieces cost but thats all.
I built all my Tts, have a phono stage that I built using nuvistors, built the speakers and the passive pre is one of mine, the pass f5 clone came my way as part payment for something so I have no idea how much the build for it cost.
Between at members we could put together an awesome system, and tell everyone it cost 23p......
And put a fence round it so nobody got a rather large shock......
BTE designs type 2 lenco, Audio Technica AT1100 AT150sa, JBE series 3 mayware formula 4 shure M97xe (his), JVC QL-Y5F Audio Technica AT440 mlb (hers)
BTE designs type 1 mk2 passive pre, PASS F5 dual mono, modified Philips cd371, Metronome 'M' speakers, BTE designs balanced power supply, Benedict Audio hothead (mm) musical fidelity x-lps (mc) mac mini + beresford tc7510
