I don't want to let this matter die and it is spread across a few threads. So focus discussion here.

We have nattered long and hard about the advantages of Radial Circuit v the stooopidity of Ring Circuits. So now the other one that winds my cogs, bayonet fitting light bulbs, WTF, how stoopid can you get. They are a complete PITA, easily damaged, easy to fit badly, bulbs pop out. Every where else is sensible per usual and uses a screw fit, far safer, less chance of shock, less chance of damage.

It seems IKEA are now helping us by selling an adaptor for 10p, good for them. Coherent would charge £100 and MartinT and MikeMusic would buy them.

CAMPAIGN FOR COMMON SENSE = try and get change to Radial Circuits and screw fit bulbs.

I have a radial run to my audio room from my consumer unit - the right side of the RCD too!

I also have numerous ES and SES light bulb fittings which I like better than bayonet fit.

However, I have noted over a period of time the ES versions can work loose. Perhaps I'm not tightening them up enough when I fit them?

Alfi.

It is converter! IKEA only sells E27 light bulbs (as it is standard in the rest of the Europe)
and most UK has only bayonet fitting

We've just had some wiring work done in the new house. I now have a dedicated radial feed from the consumer unit to four sockets (described by the electrician as the 'clean' circuit). Many new light fittings also installed - all 27mm Edison screw or small Edison screw.

I hope you haven't fitted UK 13amp to that circuit as you have wasted a lot of its potential like MartinT did.

I'd be genuinely interested to hear how your electrician believes this is a clean circuit as I can't get my head round how it's possible when supplied from the CU feeding the rest of the house as the radial will most likely share a common live and, to all intents and purposes, a common neutral.

I get the advantages as the Doc explains of getting rid of the 13A stuff....

Yeh i know its a converter, all that is doing is converting the bulb fitting buy you still got the wobbly Bayonet at the converter end as well as extending the length of the bulb.. Just swap out the old fitting.
