Bargain damaged AP20 trade in

Unread post by Dr Bunsen Honeydew »

Small chip off edge of rear panel. I have taken the top off to have a look so took photo of damage. Unit about a year old, latest spec full warranty. Fine apart from the chip.

I don't do it that way. If someone wants it then they pay for it. IF they are then unhappy in any way with the deal then on receipt of amp send or bring back for full refund.

BUMP I have reassembled case and found one bit to glue back on so, not so bad now. Still £200 grab a bargain before I put it on ebay at £200 auction start.

I am interested in the trade in Phono 1. The cartridge is a high output Demon MC. The TT is a vintage Rega Planar 3. I read somewhere that there can be hum issues with Regas. I have never experienced any, but have always been able to connect the earth lead to the amp. Would I have any problems with the Phono 1?

Shouldn't do I have had no reports of it. Can be set to any cart. You will have to bid at ebay.

Regas only offer hum issues if the arm wiring isn't quite right in the arm 'plug,' but that would be on nearly everything it was connected to - and also if the cartridge has marginal shielding, the induced hum being cumulative from amp, other sources as well as the tiny field from the Rega motor adding up.

If you have a Denon DL110, there shouldn't be an issue, although the cartridge is a bit of a 'yawn a minute' type, much beloved on the forums as it's safe as houses and works in most things.

Rest assured the Phono 1 will bring out everything the deck is offering and further upgrades will be taken in its stride :D It won't pull crap vinyl sources apart either, as I've successfully used it with the old Garrards I have here - AP76/AT120E, 86SB/V15 IV and Zero 100/VMS10E and the basic sound was fine, just not as focused as the superior Duals I have here ;)

The cartridge is the Denon DL 110. The Rega 3 is 1983 vintage with the S shaped arm.
