He’s absolutely correct and anyone intending to “level up” should have been able to see that the requirement was for better East/West links in the North Midlands and North. Together with better North/South links between Northern England and the Midlands. Funny how few people/politicians could see the need. For some unfathomable reason London had to be attached to the high speed link.

I have read that all the land amd buildings compulsory purchased for the Manchester & Leeds line will be sold off cheap starting very soon. The safeguarding along the route will be lifted too.

This effectively makes it very difficult for a future government to reverse the decision to scrap the
lines. This is good news for me as property values around here will get back to normal and people can get on with their lives unhindered by the threat of it being resurrected.
