codger noun, colloq a man, especially an old and strange one.
ETYMOLOGY: 18c: perhaps a variant of cadge.

I stand by my comment
You'd better be able to prove I'm strange or punitive damages will be awarded against you.

I think I may have that covered . Not listening to Genesis for 40 years is strange in anyone's book . ;)

Genesis are 50 years old this year as indeed am I , so you stopped listening to them when they and I were 10 in 1977!! Which is when I started listening to them.

Oooh, it's Codgergate  . Most dictionaries I've just looked at describe the word (not the definition the word) as variations on noun, informal, derogatory

The last advice I gave on the subject of Hi-Fi was for someone to "buy with your ears not your wallet", he was looking for a turntable. He has since been offered one far better than he might have bought new for his budget, he should still use his ears.

I believe a "codger" can be 50 or younger so DQ could it be applied to you?

One version of the etymology for the word "codger" I read was that it was a contraction of "coffin dodger" which seems plausible

Now, get off of my lawn you bloody kids.

BTW Marco shouldn't be just avoided on-line, but in the real world as well. Can you imagine feeling you have to shake the mans hand, what has he been touching, someones pissflaps, his own arse, someone elses arse, and all the other smut he brags about. A pollution suit and an antiseptic spray would be minimum
