Linn Lies

Unread post by CN211276 »

I came across this on the Linn forum.

http://forums.linn.co.uk/bb/showthread.php?tid=15798

Ivor’s offspring is attempting to distort history with lies, notably concerning the origin of the LP12 (see his second post). Some follow up posts show that even members of the priesthood had concerns about this. Looking at the Wikipedia entry, I do not think that much, if any, alterations made by the faithful remained.

After reading this I had a look at the entry on the LP12. It was apparent that it was someone lacking in regard to the pirated origins of the deck. I therefore took it upon myself to add what is the second paragraph, see below.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linn_Sondek_LP12

I quoted the patent number as my reference source so the addition will hopefully remain, much to the consternation of the Glasgow mafia.

What a fuckwit. Everything he is denying is common knowledge throughout the industry. Ariston RD11 was as prevalent as the Lp12 initially and Ariston decks were made for many years. Commercial failure of company about 20 years later. Linn was started with money from Ivor's Dad is pretty much the same as it being an offshoot of Castle. Both RD11 and LP12 bear close resemblance to Thorens TD150 which owes it's concept in part to the AR. So maybe saying AR instead of Thorens needs changing - Lp12 Looks an exact clone of TD150 in fact bar better plinth and bearing? Looks like Linn don't like giving credit for work by designers brought in! Of course Linn / Naim had a partnership in the form of a marketing alliance rather than the businesses being formerly tied together. It's either untruths or semantics. If they attempt to change the Wicki page hopefully it will be changed back pronto.

The only people who still believe them about anything are their dedicated band of followers. The problem is that it is still a fairly large number of the brainwashed fuckwits!

With more money then sense.

I just looked at the Linn price list, I could get decent 400 f2.8 and a set of NVA monoblocks plus a holiday for less than the price of some of their amps.

Go and say that on the Linn forum then, I bet it lasts less than 5 minutes.

Why would I want to do that?
I would suggest that an SM58 can produce a better sound, on a sound per £ basis, than anything Linn make, and I don't even like the SM58 that much.
