Politics

Unread post by Dr Bunsen Honeydew »

Why is there so little logic or intelligence on the political extremes. If you want power on the extremes then you have to avoid democracy and take power through other means. History has taught us that. Without the middle ground in any democratic argument no position can succeed, again history has told us that. So the Labour party is blindly committing suicide and will not be back in power for a generation, when they will see sense again as they did after the last time they did this and were out of power for a generation during the Thatcher era.

Well at least it gives the Lib Dems a chance to fill the middle ground again, remember the last extreme left Labour party led to the creation of the Dem part of the Lib dems with the Social Democrats.

You will now get just the Conservatives in power for many many years, as they *pretend* to represent the middle ground.

My thoughts exactly - what are the Labour party playing at????????????????????????????????????
My children's live's have been dominated by Tory mismanagement (especially in state education) and pandering to the rich because the LP couldn't get their arse in gear- it looks as though my grandson's life will follow a similar path!
Appalling decision if JC ( no not that one!) gets the nod as leader.

Well I suppose it is partly our fault as only the politically motivated join parties or try to control unions, and they are the ones with an agenda. So you have a small band of nutters dictating what choices we have. So we end up with no choice or a bad choice.

I am sure the peasants will start revolting soon, should be fun... :o
The small band of nutters might regret sacking half the army and most of the police then.

Politicians, they're all bent as a four pound note.
Apart from the SNP of course.....They're only as bent as three pound notes.

There is always some corruption, it is human nature, but as long as we have the three estates (modern version) of Democratic Politics, a Free Press, and a Free Judiciary then I think it will be far more in control than in most other countries. It is not the threat of money corruption but ideology corruption that is the point of my thread. It is the few (nutters) on both the left and the right who are motivated who try take over positions of power by relying on the indifference of the masses. At the moment I think Cameron is doing well in controlling his nutters and the Labour party is about to be taken over by its nutters, so bye bye.

We have our own pet nutter  who I am sure will be along soon to tell me I am wrong. BUT please don't get me wrong, I like nutters and think we need them as a foil and a reference point to possibilities, but short of revolution, coup or war the extremes do not take power. I will get boring again, it is all yin and yang, and the best place in all conflict is balance.

Confession time. I suppose i was initially put off JC by the media an some stupid interviewers but on listening to him he seems straightforward to me and believes in what he says rather than saying what he believes will get him elected. I am by no means a commie or even a socialist and strongly disagree with many of his views but I respect and admire him for that  .

We could do with a few more like that in UK politics rather than the usual boring men in grey suits that just want to climb the greasy pole.

Of course politics - in its widest sense ("activities aimed at improving someone's status or increasing power within an organization") - is not confined to the hustings, parliament or the town hall.

There's a lot of it going on right here.

I'd still like someone to explain to me why, if Labour are the answer, were they not able to create the socialist Nirvana in the thirteen years of power, with large parliamentary majority, between 1997 and 2010? And what makes people think that if they were to get in power again that things would be any different? Seems to me to be the power of hope over experience.
