As back up for my X777ES in case my laser goes tits up, and for £160.00 it is worth keeping as a spare. As near as damn it to my unit in quality, just a single dual core transformer instead of two discreet ones, and minor changes on the analogue board.
There are still bargains out there if you keep your eyes open.

I have a Marantz CD73 with the very robust CDM0 transport, Rondenstock laser and twin TDA 1540 (I think) DAC chips.
Unfortunately unlike the transport, the casework/construction is rather poor which lets the side down. It's a bit it quirky in operation, but it performs adequately and somewhat better I feel than the later CD63.
A friend has a Sony ES minidisk player which is huge it's built like the proverbial outhouse, I managed to repair the display on it for him and it's still working fine after many years.
