Re: Why do people join hi-fi forums
I was a Naimee for a very long time. When I moved to a Teddy Pardo amp, the allure of the Naim forum diminished significantly. I am also a member of pfm but there are some people on there who post before putting their brains into gear. I still make the very occasional post there but the site has lost its sparkle.
I like hfs due the the attitude of the Doc. Respect an opinion (even if you disagree). Some of the Mickey taking has made me laugh. The subjects are original in content and nobody seems to have an agenda.

For me it was to learn. My first post was to ask for a small, fast, exciting speaker to upgrade my Kef coda 8s. Someone suggested mk2 Kans and apart from the lack of bass, they were great.

Aye, most of them.
Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:As a counter to the TAS thread why do you leave forums I thought this would be a good one.
My opinion on the ones I observe.
1 to sell something
2 to sell themselves
3 to wave their willy around
4 because they are bored
5 because they are lonely
6 because they are bonkers
7 because they like being bored
or
1 because they want to learn
2 because they want to teach
3 because they want to open their minds
4 because they want to close other peoples minds
or
1 because they get pleasure taking the piss out of idiots
2 because no one else is willing to do it
3 to set rights to wrongs
4 to identify sub humans and shine a light on them
I suppose it depends on which forum and which forum room you post in

Well musique!, I do hope you can take HUGE pride in the fact that your English is a SQUILLION times better than my French ever was!

Re: Why do people join hi-fi forums
Well the well known phrase is, "opinions are like arseholes, we all have one". I am not sure this is a good analogy, it implies to have an opinion is wrong or at least smelly. I prefer "opinions are like brains, we all *should* have one".
Re: Why do people join hi-fi forums
For me it was curiosity and maybe wanting to learn. I only purchased my first lap top recently, and joined both HFS and PFM but never posted only looked from a distance. I find HFS by far and away the most interesting and informative of all the forums I have looked at. I must find time to go back through the Your Last Listen archive because I'm sure there are plenty of recommendations that would interest me.

Many thanks , maybie it's because of our french movies and series which are not really interesting as yours (and the americans one) so you can't do like us looking best part of it in original subtitled versions ?_D_S_J_R_ wrote:Well musique!, I do hope you can take HUGE pride in the fact that your English is a SQUILLION times better than my French ever was!
