Re: Doc Mod Drivers
It's just that i'm fond of the damn boxes after all these years (and used to the way they sound).
Just spent a half hour pulling 8m runs of speaker cable into 2 separate strands. Hmmm. Clarity and dynamics improve again.

Re: Doc Mod Drivers
They are all the same from the same manufacturer, just different size cones. OBVIOUSLY they all get the doping otherwise what would be the point.

Re: Doc Mod Drivers
Just double checked, according to the way they measure it it is 5.25 inches not 4.5 inches. I have altered the 1st post again.

Re: Doc Mod Drivers
As these drivers were designed to be used in multiway projects and have been modified so that they are usable as full range speakers have you ever compared them to something like a Fostex full range unit which are designed from the start as full range units?

Think they still need to be used with a tweeter.

Re: Doc Mod Drivers
The modifications are to avoid crossover being needed with them not to make them full range, which is the opposite to what I am doing.
IMO there is no such thing as a full range driver, they don't exist, they are just big compromises with added fizzers. The claimed full range drivers that just about work are two drivers built into one chassis a la Tannoy.

Re: Doc Mod Drivers
ANY!!! speaker with a Bextrene cone will benefit with these drive units replacing them, whether you do crossover or other mods or not.
