FREESAT

Unread post by Dr Bunsen Honeydew »

Some help please.

Our new house has no TV aerial but it has two Sky dishes on the roof. Well I hate sky and they will not get a penny of my money, sooo how do I use one or both of those dishes to get Freesat.

What do you need memory for. We just watch TV, so I presume the cheapest will be OK as I won't be storing anything.

We bought the more "complicated" Humax solution - twin receivers and a 320 Gb hard drive so you can record one program whilst watching a second program, or record two programs at the same time. You do need dual sockets from the satellite dish or a suitable splitter for that to work though. I can guarantee that if you only watch 2 programs a week there will come a time when the scheduling germlins put both on at the same bloody time. The Humax is five and a half years old now, and (touch wood) still going strong.

The odd thing about this house is it has 2 Sky dishes, both the digital type. So I may get two boxes one upstairs and one down, 'cos I often watch while working.

My fav channels are Beeb 2 and 4 and Quest. I watch sport on my computer as I refuse to give Sky / Murdoch any money, and they seemingly own it all, so Wiziwig.com who rip-off Sky feeds are my heros.
