Drum CD's.

Must admit I like listening to good drum solo's, especially through a good hifi system!

Can you get well recorded drum solo albums ?

S,
Shane Lonergan.

Just checking, are you talking about albums containing good drum solos (E.L.P's eponymous debut album and the track 'Tank' for instance) or albums like Steve Reich's 'Drumming?'

Whichever it is you might get a few ideas here and here
Amps - NVA P50, AP30, A40, Stanislav Palo Tube Headphone Amp BB 85
Speakers - Monitor Audio Silver RX2
Cables - NVA LS1+LS3, SSC, Gotham S/PDIF, IBRA Optical
Digital - NAD C516BEE, SONY ST-SDB900 DAB TUNER, TEAC UD-H01 DAC
Analogue - Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit SB, Graham Slee Gram Amp 2 Phono
Cans - Grado SR80, ATH-M50X

Joe Morello is, (was), superb. Here's another, a bit long but on my original vinyl version, it just keeps you riveted to your seat:

Castlian drums
Audio Grail "Sable" Garrard 401 with Cumbrian Green Slate plinth / Audiomods 6 / Benz Micro Gullwing SLR, Phono 2, NVA INT400sa. (Oh and a Copland CDA823 CD Player, for when I fancy a bit of the devil's spawn!)

jon Hiseman 'About Time Too' is an album completely comprised of drum solo's, I have the LP lying around somewhere and it is available on CD. A very dynamic recording and a test for any speaker.

If I could find a recording any a HiFi system that could reproduce "Monochrome" as done by the Kodo drummers. I would be very happy. My advice, save your money and see it live.

There's a CD of Burundi drummers (as use by Joni Mitchell in "The Jungle Line" which isn't bad.

Just got "MCRS" by Shankar (ECM) which has the most subtle drum solo I've ever heard (March by Jon Christensen).

off the top of my head You want the German Klaus Weiss Niagara band.. All three albums were released as a 3CD package a few years ago.. He was later in the band Sunbirds which were more Jazz/Fusion band but good stuff all the same.
