Dear Richard,

Would it be possible to retro fit a mm phono stage to my AP 70 ? I have had this amplifier since '99 when it was upgraded from an AP50, A headphone socket was fitted but at that time the option of having a phono stage fitted was not an option.

Yours sincerely Dave Cooper.

Cartridges are MM and high output MC, so 47ohm MM setting I guess.

47Kohms.

Anyway it is nothing to do with that as the circuit is load rejecting. The important thing is gain, and with high gain as with standard low output moving coil it will hum like mad as the amp has a big transformer in it for the MC stage to pick up. So internal phono stages are only fitted for mm or high output mc.

So yes, but long delay at the moment for work to be done due to order backlog.

Price to fit £130 plus postage.

Would it be quieter to go seperate box route and just order a phono 1 for the time being?

That will be better musically and less of a problem for you as I don't have to have the amp back.

Dear Richard ,

Thank you for the reply it would seem like the best way to go then and all being well I shall place an order for the phono stage in due course, most likely next week.

Yours sincerely, Dave Cooper.
