Soft Machine 'Third' (1970)

Listening to this you wonder where their inspiration came from. Four side-long instrumental workouts that defined British Jazz-rock throughout the 1970's.

As someone whose musical life began in the (late) 60's and 70's, I often wonder "why aren't there any great albums made anymore?". But here is one to prove me wrong - the utterly gorgeous and wonderful 'Bon Iver' now in a 10th anniversary 2LP edition.
A truly superb record that keeps on enthralling and intriguing.

I am bouncing around Qobuz like someone possessed the current catalyst being Trevor Horns autobiography. I was already a big fan of Frankie's Pleasure Dome but today I listened to quite a bit of Art of Noise and I am currently enjoying Propaganda's A secret wish. I did give ABC's Lexicon of Love a few tracks but it's not my thing.
Later this evening it will be vinyl and probably jazz or blues but who knows 🤷

Cheers Fret, Buggles and Yes just don't float my boat although I admire TH craft. At heart he is a very sophisticated music technician and I say that as a compliment. He always invested in the latest greatest kit, paying back in the day a staggering $350,000 for the UKs first synclavier and then invested many months of time figuring out how to work it.
He has a thing about having a "fresh" sound and is prepared to take the risk of going first.

Buggles 'Adventures in Modern Recording' is effectively a Trevor Horn solo album. Well worth a listen.
