Cocteau Twins 'Heaven or Las Vegas' (1990)



Giving the CD a spin to see if it's worth tracking this down on vinyl - and it is better than I remember it to be. I rather gave up on the Cocteau's after 'Blue Bell Knoll' and have picked up the later releases in sale-racks through the years.

This could, finally, grow on me.
Well-worth a few more listens though.

Heaven or Vegas is one of my favourite CT albums, my kids (now all adults) would sing along as I played it to death. I have to say the modern vinyl version I have is sonically ok but nothing special and that's a crying shame because with decent mastering it really had huge potential.

Dead Can Dance 'Dionysus' (2018)



A modern album meant to be played as an LP; 2 long multi-section tracks than bathe in a mosaic of ancient influences.
This is the most recent release from the DCD duo of Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry, more tranquil and flowing than earlier albums - but one to sink into and luxuriate.
I wasn't impressed with the CD when it came out, finding the music bland and uninteresting. The vinyl transforms it into something quite special.
