New Boots.. One of the greatest albums of my 14th year and my 57th. CN, you dont half get through some volume of music on a daily basis! Always impressed!

A combination of retirement and Covid. Even more restricted from yesterday with the County a couple of miles away going into lockdown.

Have to give that a proper listen-to sometime. Never really bothered much with the Cocteau's post-4AD releases although Simon Raymonde has made one or two good albums (like 'Lost Horizons')

I like Miles and most of the other Jazz greats but I really struggle with the fusion era. I find if I stick to pre 1965 it's ok but post 1970 it's a nightmare.

I'm trying to follow the path chronologically and see the twists and turns Miles & cohorts made as they ventured into new and unexplored musical territory. This is a period that has also baffled me up to now - but it starts to make (some) sense.

There are some great albums in there; 'Jack Johnson' is one I have never heard before- the Davis version of Jimi Hendrix.

'Agharta' and 'Pangaea' (both concerts recorded in Japan on the same day!) mark Miles final appearance before a 5-year withdrawal from public life. He had simply taken the music as far as it could go.

My investigation was mainly inspired by listening to Nils Petter Molvaer's Triphop and Dub experiments which give an inkling to what Miles could have done in the 21st century.
